ScribeItLocal is a free video and audio transcription tool that runs entirely inside your browser. No uploads. No account required. Just your files, transcribed on your own machine.
Every "free" transcription tool we tried came with a catch: a monthly minute cap, a forced sign-up, a watermark, or — worst of all — uploading your private recordings to someone else's server. For meetings, interviews, voice memos, and personal videos, that last one is a dealbreaker.
So we built the tool we wanted: one that does the whole job on your own computer, keeps core transcription free, and asks for no account. As far as we know, there's no other free tool that transcribes video and audio fully locally, with no upload and no account requirement. That's the gap ScribeItLocal fills.
ScribeItLocal runs OpenAI's Whisper speech-recognition model directly in your browser using Transformers.js and WebGPU acceleration. The first time you use it, the AI model downloads once and caches in your browser. After that:

ScribeItLocal’s core transcription experience is free to use. We keep the lights on with unobtrusive ads and optional user support rather than uploading your files, selling your content, or forcing an account. Your recordings are yours, and they stay that way.
