ScribeItLocal is a free, browser-based tool that transcribes audio and video files into text using the OpenAI Whisper model running locally in your web browser. The Service does not upload your files to any server; all transcription happens on your own device.
You do not need to register or create an account to use the Service. You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use the Service. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement.

You retain all ownership of the files you transcribe and the transcripts you generate. Because transcription happens entirely on your device, we never receive, access, store, or claim any rights to your content. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights and permissions necessary to transcribe any file you process.
The ScribeItLocal name, brand, design, and original site content are owned by Janko Tech Ventures LLC. The Service is built on open-source technologies, including the OpenAI Whisper model and the Transformers.js library, which are provided under their own respective licenses. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to our trademarks or branding.
The Service uses third-party providers, including Hugging Face (model delivery), Google (analytics and advertising), and Ko-fi (optional donations). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or content, including any third-party websites linked from advertisements.
ScribeItLocal is supported by advertising, which allows us to offer it free to use. By using the Service, you acknowledge that ads may be displayed. See our Privacy Policy for details on advertising and your choices.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that transcripts will be accurate or complete. Automated transcription may contain errors; you should review and verify any transcript before relying on it. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Janko Tech Ventures LLC and its owners, officers, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Because the Service is provided free to use, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Janko Tech Ventures LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or any applicable law.
